Jan 24, 2023 / By: Alex Byczko
The 2022 Checklick Compensation Survey responses were collected earlier and the survey is more accurate!
Read on to learn more about this year's survey and you'll be able to download your copy of the infographic at the bottom of this post.
In 2022, we finally got to feel semi-normal again. Camps were active, teams were travelling, and best of all, Coaches were working again! With that, we got to work on some of the questions in our pursuit of higher resolution data and we have some really interesting comparatives from this year’s results. In this post, we'll go over our methodology, new questions, rationale, errors, and distributions.
It goes without saying, thank you to all respondents!

In a similar fashion to last year, the polled population were coaches who use Checklick.
Here are details about the survey;
Over the last couple of years our responses have hovered around 220. We kept the survey open for the same amount of time this year. We realise the impact this survey can have on the environment you work in. So, we launched earlier in the hopes that this data can help you in the new year when hiring your coaches. Given it was launched prior to the holiday a generally less active time for seasonal coaches, we suspect this impacted the number of responses.
This year we asked our standard 13 questions. Standard questions being nationality, pay, age, experience, qualifications, etc. Not much of a change this year, except for gathering more specific age data. However, some feedback we received suggested we begin to look into indirect and non monetary compensation. This may help paint the picture of why coaches are sticking around or changing workplaces. Maybe the benefits are a motivator here and we want answers!
All the questions were phrased as simple and direct as possible to reduce survey attrition. All the questions relatted to demographic information (Age, Experience, Qualifications) questions could be directly compared to previous year’s surveys.
Data was collected via Google Forms. Response distribution outputs that are provided by the application were used, however, the more significant findings came from the raw data analysis.

All questions were written in a way that allowed for simple responses. We need to clear up issues with respondents reporting more than one sport that they coach. This will be rephrased next year to prevent any confusion.
This year, again, we are providing the averages of our distribution data in a slick looking infographic. Check that out as we think it’s direct, informative and cuts some of the noise of how we have done this in the past.
Another successful survey in the books. Stay tuned for more, because we have a lot!
We will continue to revise the survey to improve our data collection and let us know if you like our new visual format.
In our next post we will look at the data with a finer comb. We will provide you with the same breakdowns and insights as last year. Then in a subsequent post we will take a look at comparisons between regions and years.
